About The Position

Requirements

• Current, good-standing Registered Nurse license in the State of California.
• Current BLS – Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
• For Clinical Nurse I positions at Magnet-designated facilities, a BSN is required, or a BSN program must be started within one year of hire and the degree attained within two years of starting the program.
• For the Pre/Post Unit, one year of nursing experience in a perioperative setting at an acute care hospital or outpatient surgery center.
• For Recovery Room/PACU, one year of recent PACU experience in an acute care hospital or critical care unit.
• For Irvine Recovery Room/PACU and Irvine Pre/Post Unit, ACLS and PALS are required; PALS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• For Pre/Post Unit nurses hired before 10/1/2025, ACLS is required. Nurses hired after 10/1/2025 must have ACLS and obtain PALS within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.
• Successful completion of an ECG course or equivalent is required only for units with telemetry monitoring.
• One or more years of Preop/PACU experience in a surgery center preferred.
• One or more years of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Pre/Post Unit: Specialty certification preferred.
• Recovery Room/PACU: ASPAN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct perioperative patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
• Collaborate with the health care team to deliver safe, timely, and appropriate quality patient care.
• Perform physical assessments and nursing interventions.
• Manage pain and administer medications.
• Collect specimens and help meet patients’ nutritional needs.
• Provide patient teaching and address discharge needs.
• Use an evidence-based nursing process, evaluating and adjusting care as necessary.
• Consult appropriate resource personnel when addressing ethical, legal, or medical dilemmas.
• Prepare patients for surgery through assessments, education, chart review, medication reconciliation, and IV starts.
• Manage post-anesthesia recovery, pain control, discharge readiness, and patient and family education.
• Work with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to support a safe and seamless patient experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
