About The Position

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care. The Surgery Center Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Surgery Center Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. The Eye and Ear Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides specialized outpatient surgical care in ophthalmology, ENT, plastics, and other same‑day procedures. RNs in the OR and Pre‑Op/PACU support the full perioperative experience, including pre‑surgical assessments, intraoperative circulating/scrub roles, and post‑anesthesia recovery. RNs in this unit work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment focused on safety, efficiency, and exceptional patient experience. This outpatient setting offers predictable scheduling with no nights, weekends, or holidays, along with opportunities for professional growth within a leading academic medical center.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit

Responsibilities
