About The Position

Requirements

• Approved for participation in the DoD SkillBridge program
• Able to commit to a full-time SkillBridge engagement
• Command approval prior to start date
• Experience in Cyber Operations, Defensive Cyberspace Operations, or Cyber Warfare
• Experience in software development, automation, or tooling in operational environments
• Experience in platform, service, or systems engineering with a security focus
• Writing Python or other automation scripts for operational or security use
• Building or integrating REST APIs
• Securing applications, services, or platforms
• Working with CI/CD pipelines or automated testing
• Developing internal tools, dashboards, or operational capabilities
• Operating in joint, mission-critical, or globally distributed environments

Nice To Haves

• Security certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CCSP, GIAC) are valued but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and secure APIs that expose core security capabilities to internal teams and platforms.
• Implement authentication, authorization, logging, rate limiting, and abuse protections at the API layer.
• Work with API gateways, service-to-service communications, and platform integrations.
• Produce engineering-grade documentation including runbooks, SDK guidance, and operational references.
• Build Python-based automation to streamline security workflows, data ingestion, and response actions.
• Develop integrations, plugins, and middleware connecting security tools, SaaS platforms, and internal services.
• Embed security controls directly into CI/CD pipelines (such as GitHub Actions).
• Improve reliability, observability, and scale of security systems through code.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and product teams across globally distributed environments.
• Contribute to coding standards, architectural decisions, and engineering best practices.
• Learn how business, platform, and security requirements intersect in a large enterprise environment.
