About The Position
The Scaffold Builder Leadman supervises the construction, assembly, maintenance, and dismantling of tubular scaffolding and other temporary structures. The role includes determining the type of scaffold needed, instructing on proper installation, overseeing scaffold material handling and erection, and ensuring scaffolds are secured and stable. The Leadman also ensures compliance with OSHA, site-specific, and Austin Industrial requirements; supervises dismantling; inspects and stores materials; and performs final inspections of completed scaffolding. Other duties may be assigned. The work takes place in industrial and construction environments and may involve working at heights, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces, with exposure to weather, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards. Employees must be able to use required personal protective equipment and meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements. Requirements
- NCCER Scaffold certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Four years of journeyman-level experience.
- Ability to work at heights without fear.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, solve problems, maintain attention to detail, manage stress, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills to safely perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to wear required PPE and meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements.
- Legal authorization to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
- Determine the type of scaffold needed and instruct workers on proper installation.
- Oversee the transport and handling of tubular scaffold and other structural materials and the erection of scaffolding.
- Hoist scaffolding materials to erect temporary structures.
- Secure and level locking sections of scaffolding material.
- Secure scaffolds to permanent structures for added stability.
- Follow OSHA, site-specific, and Austin Industrial requirements for scaffold erection and use.
- Supervise scaffold dismantling when authorized and properly communicated.
- Inspect and properly stow scaffolding materials after dismantling.
- Perform final inspections of completed scaffolding.
- Maintain a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
