About The Position

This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Research Associate position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head. This position exists to support research on Agrobacterium vitis. The incumbent will be responsible for using computational and molecular biology methods to study genome sequences and strains to infer the evolutionary basis for plasmid host range in the bacterial pathogen, Agrobacterium vitis and genomic bases of virulence and plasmid content in the Agrobacterium/Rhizobium genus. Requirements

  • PhD in biology, computer science, or related fields.
  • Three years (by start of position) of postdoctoral experience in computational, genome analysis of plant bacterial pathogens.
  • Research experience with Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Agrobacterium vitis.
  • Expertise with Agrobacterium and Rhizobium genomics.
  • Experience with developing computational workflows for other researchers.
  • Experience using a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster.
  • Demonstrably collaborative.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
  • Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
