The University of Arizona Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Professor David Sand and collaborators on nearby galaxies, dwarf galaxies, and resolved stellar populations. The position will help lead large, ongoing photometric and spectroscopic projects involving dwarf galaxies, stellar halos, and globular clusters around the Milky Way and nearby galaxies. These programs use deep imaging from wide-field ground-based cameras, Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope imaging, and kinematic and spectroscopic datasets. The successful candidate will lead high-profile, independent research in these areas while collaborating with faculty and scholars in the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory. They will be encouraged to develop independent research as time permits and may apply directly as a principal investigator for observing time on Steward facilities. The postdoctoral associate will also contribute to a collaborative scholarly environment through research, mentoring, and service. Start dates are expected between August and November 2027, with an earlier start possible by mutual agreement.
