About The Position

Requirements

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, a temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or compact RN licensure applicable to the state of practice.
• BLS certification.
• Must relate relevant experience, training, and education during the interview process.
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the practice area through annual validations.
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required depending on the area of practice.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the clinical area for which the applicant is applying is desired.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs; review patient history, assessments, diagnostic results, and laboratory data, and report abnormal findings to appropriate caregivers.
• Develop and revise patient-specific plans of care and discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide and coordinate direct patient care; delegate and supervise care activities appropriately and promote continuity through accurate communication with other caregivers.
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, assess progress toward goals, and revise the plan of care as needed.
• Document assessments, plans, interventions, evaluations, patient responses, and physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide evidence-based care and may participate in clinical research, shared leadership, staff and patient education, orientation, precepting, and mentoring.
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes and nursing quality indicators through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
• Communicate and coordinate with staff, physicians, patients, families, external health care contacts, community providers, agencies, and clergy concerning patient care.
• May supervise staff and departmental workflow in some roles.
• Float to MedSurg units as needed.
