Requirements

• Current Pennsylvania RN license or current multistate license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in a professional practice setting and contribute to team success through role modeling and mentoring.
• Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and the skill level of RNs, LPNs, or support staff; assign duties and lunches when serving in a charge role.
• Consider environmental safety, patient condition, intervention complexity, and outcome predictability when assigning or providing care.
• Provide peers with verbal and written feedback on clinical practice and role performance, and share knowledge and skills with colleagues.
• Support a culture that accepts mistakes and encourages safe risk-taking.
• Participate in interdisciplinary evaluation of clinical care and health services.
• Promote patient safety initiatives and participate in department-specific quality initiatives, including appropriate use of order sets.
• Supervise, delegate to, and evaluate LPN practice within the applicable scope, as appropriate.
• Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in accordance with physician direction, nursing and hospital policies, and patient and family needs.
• Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes with the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Analyze the health status of individuals and families, comparing data with norms where possible to determine care needs.
• Assess and document reported or recorded changes in patient condition, notify the physician or supervisor, and intervene appropriately.
• Accept assignments outside the primary unit and perform duties within individual competency.
• Pursue lifelong learning, use current research and evidence to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills, and support the learning of others.
• Participate in professional organizations and systematic peer review; seek feedback and identify strengths and areas for professional development.
• Meet hospital time and attendance guidelines.
• Continuously assess patient and family satisfaction and participate in department-specific satisfaction initiatives.
• Promote compassionate, patient- and family-centered communication and assess and attempt to resolve patient or family concerns.
• Use effective time management to complete assigned duties and responsibilities within the established work shift.
• Comply with ethical, legal, privacy, information-security, and company conduct requirements, including protection of confidential information and HIPAA compliance.
