About The Position
The Recreation Therapist Assistant at Mervyn Sharp Bennion Veterans Home plans and leads therapeutic recreation activities for residents, supporting their well-being, independence, social engagement, and quality of life. The role includes conducting resident assessments, helping develop individualized recreation plans, facilitating group and individual activities, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and maintaining accurate documentation and participation records. The recreation team serves veterans and their families through meaningful activities and therapeutic programming.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy.
- Current Utah recreational therapy license and national certification (TRS, CTRS, or equivalent).
- CPR certification.
- Valid Utah driver's license.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Creative, dependable, and resident-focused approach.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead therapeutic recreation activities that support resident well-being.
- Conduct resident assessments and help develop individualized recreation plans.
- Facilitate engaging group and individual activities.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident goals and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and participation records.
- Help create meaningful experiences that enhance residents' quality of life.
