About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatrist to work in the Arizona Department of Corrections in Tucson, Arizona. The role provides clinical oversight of the facility’s mental health programs and works alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to serve patients with complex mental health needs. Pay ranges from $165.00 to $174.00 per hour, based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience. Full-time and part-time positions may be available. The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnoses mental health conditions while protecting residents’ rights, dignity, and health. The role also supports evidence-based treatment, responds to acute mental health needs, contributes to patient rehabilitation and community transition, and helps ensure care complies with applicable requirements. Requirements

  • Hold a current unrestricted Psychiatrist license in Arizona.
  • Hold a current DEA registration in Arizona.
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR certification; AHA certification is preferred.
  • Be certified by a board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills.
  • Have experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including people with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Be able to communicate with diverse individuals, including medical professionals, correctional staff, and judges.
  • Be able to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans.
  • Have knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism, adhere to a Code of Conduct, and comply with facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents.
  • Provide medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Oversee mental health screenings and evaluations performed by others.
  • Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
  • Support patient rehabilitation and facilitate successful transitions back into the community.
  • Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
  • Collaborate with correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff respond to patients’ needs.
