About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Project Water Engineer to join and expand our Water team in Rochester, NY. This role will focus on drinking water planning, design, and construction. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to manage projects from inception to completion, acting as a professional and effective communicator with clients and successfully executing projects within the community. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to lead and collaborate, with opportunities to support client development for municipal, state, federal, and private sector clients. A key aspect of this position is the desire to mentor and grow with a dynamic team of engineers in upstate NY.

Requirements

  • Excellent technical engineering skills in the drinking water practice area.
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication abilities.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Client relationship skills are highly valued.
  • Expertise in developing innovative project implementation solutions.
  • Experience in growing and developing teams, including mentoring staff.
  • Collaborative problem solving.
  • Desire to work with diverse teams to solve complex problems.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering with focus on drinking water.
  • Experience in design or consulting engineering or Municipal work environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field of study.

Nice To Haves

  • NY PE license or ability to obtain one via reciprocity shortly after joining Arcadis.
  • 10 years of relevant water/wastewater experience.
  • Project leadership experience including managing overall project delivery expectations, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring.
  • Client management experience, including preparation and development of proposals and client relationship building.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional association(s).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local and national teams for successful planning, funding assistance, preliminary and final design, and construction of water treatment plants, distribution systems, and pump stations.
  • Create construction documents and specifications.
  • Provide engineering services during construction.
  • Focus on lead and copper related projects from compliance planning through design and construction.
  • Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations and analysis.
  • Complete design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers and design/drafting technical staff.
  • Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
  • Travel may be required for site visits, client meetings, or construction oversight.
