About The Position

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Worker is responsible for operating various shop equipment to prepare steel orders for on-time delivery to Salit customers. This role ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and customer quality standards. This position is based at our Concord location: 300 Connie Crescent, Concord, ON L4K 5R2. This position requires the employee to work night shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am. However, training would be conducted on Morning shifts 6am - 2pm or afternoon shift 2pm- 10pm.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) safely.
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and approved safety boots.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated accountability, dependability, and teamwork.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift safely.
  • Read and interpret a tape measure.
  • Read and write in English.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, and simple fractions).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ethics, integrity, and teamwork.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Approved safety footwear required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred.
  • Overhead crane or forklift operating experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery, equipment, and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Identify and retrieve structural steel and rebar from warehouse racks to fill customer orders.
  • Feed and unload processing machines as required.
  • Ensure machine guards are in place and materials are handled safely at all times.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment as specified.
  • Operate overhead cranes (training and certification required prior to operation).
  • Operate cutting saws, rebar benders, and shears (training provided).
  • Use measuring tape to verify material lengths and bends in rebar steel.
  • Follow work instructions, procedures, and company policies.
  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
  • Maintain regular attendance and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Comply with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
