Requirements

  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in the development of large-scale wind, hydroelectric, and/or solar projects;
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Experience in project development in Quebec markets;
  • Experience in partnership management and contract negotiation;
  • Experience in coordinating studies and project development activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams, colleagues, and external consultants to ensure the project progresses according to schedule;
  • Proven experience in managing development processes and procedures (land, environment, permitting, electricity interconnection and transmission, finance, and communication), development timelines, and stakeholders involved in project success;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of local government processes and structure;
  • Ability to address complex topics simply and concisely;
  • Must master technical aspects and be able to explain them to stakeholders;
  • Must demonstrate great attention to detail, be organized, and show consistency;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;
  • GIS software;
  • Bilingualism (French and English, both oral and written) required to ensure collaboration with various stakeholders outside of Quebec on a recurring basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Indigenous groups or partners is an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience of key project contracts—power purchase agreements, producer interconnection agreements, turbine and equipment supply contracts, partnership and sale agreements, and operation and maintenance contracts—is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, launch, and successfully complete new development opportunities (entirely new projects, acquisitions in the start-up and intermediate phases);
  • Lead partnerships with Indigenous communities and support activities aimed at strengthening relationships;
  • Collaborate with internal development teams and project specialists, and supervise external consultants to ensure follow-up on all aspects of project development, including land acquisition, resource analysis, environmental studies, obtaining permits, communication, electricity interconnection and transmission, regulatory and legal aspects, engineering and design, and financial modeling;
  • Ensure follow-up and coordination of relevant development activities and schedules;
  • Evaluate, analyze, and formulate recommendations to management regarding project viability and profitability;
  • Manage project-related expenses, and develop, manage, and maintain project budgets;
  • Prepare the necessary documents to submit projects to management for approval;
  • Report on project progress to management through oral and written reports, and participate in weekly management meetings and conference calls;
  • Manage the handover to the construction team and support the engineering and construction teams throughout the construction process;
  • Assist financial and legal departments in their dealings with third parties (taxation, construction financing, etc.) to ensure advantageous transaction terms;
  • Lead and/or participate in the negotiation of commercial agreements to maximize value creation.
