About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university with a valid Florida Professional teaching certificate in Pre-K Primary.
• May need to complete DCF 45 hour course
• One (1) year of teaching experience.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Must be able to maintain professional and cooperative relationships with parents, colleagues, and other professionals.
• Excellent administrative, clerical, and organizational skills.
• Effective problem-solving, reasoning, and critical thinking skills.
• Must pass a Level II background check, a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and PPD.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for each student.
• Completes a developmental assessment for each student within six weeks of enrollment and annually thereafter.
• Develops an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student annually.
• Participates in the initial IEP staffing and each annual review.
• Works with students both individually and in small groups on individual program goals.
• Implements physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs within the classroom.
• Records all necessary information related to classroom management and student progress.
• Writes daily lesson plans.
• Records data twice a week on each child’s behavior objectives.
• Keeps daily data on toileting schedule.
• Completes daily attendance record.
• Completes monthly progress reports for each student.
• Completes quarterly progress reports for each student and sends copy to family.
• Communicates regularly with parents/guardians and records on Parent/Agency contact form.
• Fills out an incident report if a child is hurt and follows incident reporting procedures.
• Carries out daily activities in the classroom.
• Checks daily that all necessary materials are prepared and ready for scheduled activities.
• Works daily with assigned activity group on individual IEP goals and objectives.
• Assists and trains assistant teachers in implementing programs.
• Carries out toilet training programs.
• Assists children in tooth brushing, hand washing and dressing skills.
• Demonstrates proper carrying, handling and positioning of children.
• Attends scheduled teacher meetings to discuss educational programming.
• Completes annual reviews and quarterly incentives for teacher assistants and submits to Preschool Director for review/approval.
• Provides for the physical order and cleanliness of preschool areas.
• Participates in lunch time, clean-up, and classroom upkeep daily.
• Follow proper health and safety rules for toileting and changing children.
• Keeps dangerous or hazardous items out of the reach of all children.
• Attends all Preschool in-service training.
• Attends mandatory child care training courses or mandatory workshops on an annual basis.
• Complies with state regulations for renewal of or obtaining of Teacher Certification.
• Ensures all direct reports are up-to-date on mandatory trainings, screenings, evaluations, etc.
• Assists in development of job descriptions for direct reports.
• Provides job training for direct reports.
• Monitors staff performance; Conducts probationary and annual performance evaluations.
• Administers disciplinary action and counseling to direct reports as necessary and in compliance with federal, state and local laws and ASC policies and procedures.
• Participates in the grievance process as required.
• Monitors attendance manages overtime.
