Lead Project Planner

About The Position

Progesys is looking for a Lead Project Planner to work in a mining project in Vancouver. As a Lead Project Planner, you will play a key leadership role in the successful execution of large-scale mining project. This position goes beyond schedule management, it requires providing strategic planning oversight, supporting project decision-making, and ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities throughout the full project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning for large-scale industrial, mining, or infrastructure projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Strong expertise with Primavera P6 is mandatory
  • Solid understanding of all project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, greenfield developments, brownfield expansions, and shutdown/turnaround projects
  • Proven experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary project schedules in EPCM or owner-side environments
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to influence project teams and stakeholder

Nice To Haves

  • experience with SAP or integrated project control systems is considered an asset
  • PMP, AACE, or related project controls/planning certifications are considered strong assets

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of integrated Project Master Schedules (Levels 1–4) for major capital projects
  • Coordinate planning activities across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams to ensure schedule alignment and project visibility
  • Analyze critical paths, identify scheduling risks and bottlenecks, and propose mitigation and recovery plans
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, and performance against established baselines and milestones
  • Generate and present schedule reports, KPIs, S-curves, progress analyses, and executive-level planning updates
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings with project teams, contractors, clients, and stakeholders
  • Support project forecasting, change management, and schedule impact analysis related to scope changes and delays
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior planners and planning teams while promoting planning best practices and standards
  • Participate in risk workshops and support Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) activities to improve schedule reliability and project execution confidence
  • Collaborate closely with Project Controls, Cost Control, Construction, and Operations teams to support successful project delivery
