The Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, clinical services and education. This role involves accurately and timely verifying medication orders, evaluating patient profiles for appropriateness, verifying dispensed medications, following investigational drug procedures, and maintaining oversight of daily pharmacy operations including sterile compounding and narcotic dispensing. The pharmacist will ensure compliance with pharmacy policies and federal, state, and local laws, and recommend improvements to pharmacy workflow. Additionally, the role includes supervising technicians, fostering strong working relationships with medical and nursing staff, and performing duties outside normal responsibilities when needed. The pharmacist will also be involved in patient monitoring, making therapeutic recommendations, participating in quality improvement activities, reporting adverse drug events and medication errors, enforcing formulary adherence, and documenting interventions. Training and mentoring of pharmacy students, interns, and other pharmacists is also a key component of this position.
