About The Position
The Registered Dietitian provides direct patient care by applying the Nutrition Care Process, including nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, evidence-based nutrition interventions and prescriptions, coordination of Medical Nutrition Therapy services, and nutrition monitoring and evaluation. The role provides nutrition counseling and education to inpatient and outpatient populations and collaborates respectfully with patients and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality care. The practitioner works with minimal supervision, demonstrates self-leadership and professional conduct, and adheres to the dietetics code of ethics. The role also includes accurate documentation and record keeping, precepting and teaching dietetic interns and other students, maintaining clinical productivity standards, and contributing to department and organizational improvement. For Rehabilitation & Nursing Centers, the Registered Dietitian collaborates with the Manager, Nutrition Services at least four hours every 60 days.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in dietetics practice necessary to be competent as a Registered Dietitian professional.
- Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration, required within 180 days.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care through the Nutrition Care Process, including nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, evidence-based interventions, nutrition prescriptions, and nutrition monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide nutrition counseling and education for inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Coordinate services related to Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients.
- Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exams as appropriate for high-quality patient care.
- Document and maintain records in accordance with RDN standard operating procedures, legislation, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Precept and teach dietetic interns and other students, including medical students.
- Maintain clinical productivity standards and accurate daily clinical activity records, including information for scheduling and billing.
- Collaborate confidently with the interdisciplinary team to advocate for patient care and support a culture of nutrition.
- Contribute to and engage in improvements to department and organizational metrics.
- For Rehabilitation & Nursing Centers, collaborate with the Manager, Nutrition Services at least four hours every 60 days.
- May communicate and interact with the media on issues related to the focus area or other advanced clinical areas.
