About The Position
The Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing in the Morrison Family College of Health at the University of St. Thomas seeks an experienced nurse educator for a tenure-track Associate Professor position. The successful candidate will teach across traditional BSN and accelerated prelicensure MSN programs. Current teaching needs include Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Population Health, and Pharmacology. Instruction may take place in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical settings. The standard teaching load is six courses per academic year. Faculty responsibilities also include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarship, and service to the School of Nursing, college, university, and profession. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda, demonstrate continued scholarly productivity, and contribute to nursing education, practice, or healthcare research. Candidates will be eligible for an expedited tenure clock under mutually agreed terms and timelines. Tenure is subject to a separate university review and approval process. Requirements
- Earned PhD (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Nursing or a closely related field, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or EdD. Candidates whose doctorate is in a field other than nursing must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing.
- Current RN licensure or eligibility for RN licensure in Minnesota.
- At least five years of effective teaching experience in higher education or as a clinical educator in an acute care setting.
- Demonstrated successful teaching, supported by teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Established record of peer-reviewed scholarship, including publications and ongoing scholarly activity.
- Evidence of an active research agenda with potential for continued scholarly contributions at the University of St. Thomas.
- Ability to teach and mentor students in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
- Commitment to the ideals of the University of St. Thomas mission.
Nice To Haves
- Clinical and/or teaching expertise in Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Population Health, or Pharmacology.
- Experience teaching in prelicensure BSN or direct-entry MSN nursing programs.
- Experience with curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience mentoring faculty and students in teaching, research, or scholarship.
- Experience with simulation, clinical education, and innovative teaching methods.
