About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician II, under general supervision of a pharmacist, performs technical tasks within the pharmacy department. Based on area of assignment, responsibilities may include medication preparation, compounding, dispensing, inventory control, unit dose prepackaging, and basic computer system operations. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general some specialty areas of pharmacy practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • At least one year of pharmacy technician in a healthcare or retail setting Required
  • CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Required
  • PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
  • Mathematical computation skills
  • Organization and communication skills
  • Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work independently within pharmacy scope of practice
  • Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program completion of a pharmacy technician training program, preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft® Office, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Performs introductory technical tasks in specialty areas such as medication histories, sterile and non-sterile preparation, payer adjudication, call center, clinical pharmacy support, inventory management including controlled substance handling and accountability, and repackaging.
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
