Certified Medication Technician

About The Position
This position requires a thorough understanding of the facility’s treatment program and philosophy, admission process, and criteria, with a working knowledge of various aspects of alcoholism, drug abuse, and dual diagnosis. This individual is a member of the mental health team providing professional level nursing and medical care to patients under the supervision of a licensed medical provider, Licensed Practical Nurse, or licensed Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medication Technician/ Aide training program as required by the state in which the facility is located.
- Basic understanding of pharmacology and medication administration techniques.
- Certification as a Medication Technician /Aide, as required by the state in which the facility is located.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be based on state or facility.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
- Knowledge and experience working with the population of the facility preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the administration of medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
