About The Position

Requirements

• At least 5 years of documented experience in tactical training, military combat instruction, or law enforcement defensive tactics.
• Current certification in at least two recognized martial arts or combat systems.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Expert-level proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, grappling, striking, and defensive tactics.
• Knowledge of weapons retention and disarmament techniques.
• Understanding of threat assessment, situational awareness, conflict de-escalation, and the use-of-force continuum and legal implications of self-defense.
• Ability to communicate complex tactical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and motivate students.
• Excellent physical fitness and ability to demonstrate techniques safely.
• Ability to engage in intensive physical training for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move training equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• No physical limitations that would prevent effective instruction or demonstration.

Nice To Haves

• Military background, preferably Special Forces, Infantry, or Military Police.
• Law enforcement experience.
• Advanced military training, such as Special Operations, Close Quarters Combat, or SERE.
• Law enforcement tactical team experience, such as SWAT, SRT, or ERT.
• Instructor certifications in multiple combat disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement self-defense curricula covering hand-to-hand combat, weapons retention, situational awareness, and de-escalation.
• Conduct individual and group training for diverse audiences and adapt instruction to different skill levels.
• Develop scenario-based exercises that simulate real-world threat situations.
• Provide hands-on instruction in martial arts, defensive tactics, and combat systems.
• Evaluate student progress through practical assessments and skill demonstrations.
• Maintain detailed student training records and progress reports.
• Ensure training complies with safety protocols and industry standards.
• Collaborate with program directors to improve training effectiveness.
• Stay current with tactical methodologies, threat assessments, and best practices.
• Assist in developing training materials, manuals, and instructional resources.
• Support certification programs and continuing education requirements.
• Maintain a safe training environment through equipment management and risk assessment.
• Ensure activities comply with organizational policies, legal requirements, and insurance guidelines.
• Implement emergency response procedures and conduct safety briefings and equipment inspections.
