About The Position
The Associate Data Scientist supports data science initiatives that drive business profitability, process optimization, increased efficiencies, workflow automation using AI, and an improved store associate experience. Working closely with Data Scientists and Senior Data Scientists, this role helps build Agentic AI capabilities and deploy data science models at scale for Merchandise Execution Team operations. Depending on the project, the role may use specializations such as optimization, computer vision, multimodal AI, conversational AI, information retrieval, generative AI, or search. The Associate Data Scientist applies data science methodologies to solve business problems and provide strategic insights, while developing technical and business knowledge through communication, continuous learning, and development. The role spends approximately 70% of its time on solution development, 20% communicating results, and 10% technical learning. It reports to a manager or above and has no direct reports. No travel is required.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field of study related to the job.
- Preferred: Master's degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, mathematics, or statistics, or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred: 2 or more years of experience developing machine learning or AI models to solve business problems.
- Preferred: 2 or more years of experience in business intelligence and analytics.
- Preferred: Proficiency in a modern scripting language, preferably Python.
- Preferred: Proficiency querying data, preferably using Google BigQuery or SQL.
- Preferred: Knowledge of prescriptive modeling such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, or NLP.
- Preferred: Demonstrated experience in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
- Preferred: Proficiency with data visualization software, preferably Tableau.
- Preferred: Proficiency using statistical techniques to identify insights that help solve business problems.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

- Learn about assigned business areas and incorporate business-specific knowledge into solutions.
- Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support preparation of project reports, updates, and presentations.
- Highlight potential impacts of recommendations to encourage alignment and appropriate implementation.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging methodologies.
- Continually develop data analytics skills and expertise, and identify opportunities to apply new learnings.
