About The Position
Join the AV Labs team to transform raw sensor data into high-precision training datasets and foundational road maps for autonomous vehicle development. The role combines static road modeling and dynamic scene understanding. Annotators may focus on areas such as 3D perception or HD mapping while remaining able to pivot across data modalities and project streams as priorities change. The position calls for a detail-oriented spatial thinker with strong analytical judgment and a commitment to data accuracy and logical consistency. This role is onsite in Sunnyvale, California, five days per week, and is listed as a contract of six or more months.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant background in GIS, or at least 3 years of relevant data annotation experience.
- Prior data annotation experience in the autonomous driving or robotics industry.
- Hands-on experience with 2D and 3D annotation platforms, including LiDAR point clouds, aerial or orthophotos, and multi-camera systems.
- Strong spatial reasoning and understanding of road network layouts, lane connections, traffic laws, and multi-sensor spatial relationships.
- Ability to pivot quickly across project scopes, tooling environments, and geographic regions.
- Comfortable working onsite five days per week.
Responsibilities
- Label, classify, and construct high-fidelity datasets using 2D camera imagery and 3D LiDAR point clouds, covering dynamic objects and static roadway environments.
- Build and verify static map layers, lane connectivity, and intersection paths so roadway features and traffic controls reflect real-world navigation rules.
- Review labeled data and auto-generated outputs to identify sensor anomalies, edge cases, and structural inconsistencies.
- Partner with engineers to resolve corner cases, define labeling standards, and refine labeling rules and taxonomies.
- Follow project instructions, meet production KPIs, and adapt to changing toolchains, regional driving rules, and project priorities.
