About The Position

Requirements

• Complete basic training in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
• Be able to perform the essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
• Successfully complete a medical examination, psychological evaluation, and drug urinalysis screening.
• Submit a complete application by the posting closing date; resumes, cover letters, and similar documents are not considered for determining eligibility.
• If claiming education in supplemental application answers, attach college transcripts; unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
• Follow all instructions in interview notices and provide accurate information reflecting the applicant’s own experience, qualifications, and work.

Responsibilities

• Interact with inmates and visitors in direct and indirect situations.
• Monitor inmate movement and activities in cellblocks, housing units, work areas, dining spaces, and recreation areas to maintain security.
• Make periodic and unannounced rounds, conduct head counts and security checks, and report unusual situations to a Corrections Officer.
• Participate in formalized instruction covering sociology, psychology, court procedures, self-defense, leadership, custodial responsibilities, and the facility’s organizational structure.
• Provide advice and guidance to inmates as they adjust to and participate in correctional processes and follow agency rules and regulations.
• Write and complete detailed reports.
• Respond quickly and safely during emergency situations.
