About The Position

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Food Handler's certification
• Previous experience in the kitchen of a hospital or other large facility
• Experience as a cook in a mental healthcare hospital environment
• At least three (3) years of experience as a cook in a healthcare or similar setting
• Strong kitchen safety skills
• Ability to meet deadlines surrounding a very rigid serving schedule
• Ability to adjust recipes 'on the fly' to achieve desired results
• Ability to read and comprehend recipes and instructions regarding prepackaged products
• Ability to read, convert, and adjust mathematical measurements for recipe changes and development
• Substantial knowledge using commercial kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, and dishwashers
• Current CPR certification (or obtain prior to start date)

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for patients and staff.
• Ensure kitchen safety and meet deadlines for a rigid serving schedule.
• Adjust recipes as needed to achieve desired results.
• Read and comprehend recipes and instructions for prepackaged products.
• Read, convert, and adjust mathematical measurements for recipe changes and development.
• Utilize commercial kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, and dishwashers.
• Complete 'Handle-With-Care' Physical Restraint Technique Training during orientation.
