The Cook Helper assists the Cooks in preparing, serving, and sanitation of the dining facility, equipment, and surfaces. This role involves setting up and breaking down the serving line, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining and kitchen areas, and ensuring proper rotation and replenishment of food items. The Cook Helper is responsible for serving students, staff, and guests courteously and professionally, assisting with dishes, and managing trash receptacles. The position also requires assisting with some programming and activity events, and performing various food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and cleaning fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, and seafood. Other duties include breading food items, stirring and straining soups/sauces, weighing ingredients, carrying food items, and storing foods according to temperature requirements. The Cook Helper is also involved in cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas and equipment, distributing supplies, assisting with inventory, and operating kitchen equipment like dishwashers, slicers, and mixers. Adherence to safety and sanitary rules, company policies, and professional conduct is essential.
