About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthetist Program.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• One year of critical care nursing experience.
• Florida Nurse Anesthetist License.
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Florida.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.
• Knowledge of the physical and general characteristics of various age-related groups.
• Ability to communicate with staff physicians, peers, and other departments.
• Interpersonal skills to work with colleagues, patients, and patients' families.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform light, moderate, and heavy physical work.
• Ability to lift patients or assist in lifting patients.
• Ability to reach, pull, push, bend, and stoop as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations, document findings, and order and evaluate appropriate laboratory work.
• Formulate anesthetic care plans using current knowledge and scientific principles; explain procedures and answer patient questions.
• Write preoperative notes, maintain accurate anesthesia records, protect confidentiality, and demonstrate concern for patients and families.
• Administer anesthesia according to commonly accepted AANA and FANA standards.
• Maintain knowledge of anesthesia equipment and follow standard medical practices for induction, maintenance, and emergencies.
• Preserve sterile technique and keep the work area free of obstacles.
• Continuously monitor patients during anesthesia, document appropriately, recognize abnormal physiological responses, take corrective action, request tests when needed, and provide emergency care when necessary.
• Maintain responsibility for safe emergence from anesthesia under accepted guidelines.
• Transfer patients to recovery-room or ICU personnel and remain until report is given and the patient's condition is stable.
• Recognize expected or abnormal postoperative patient responses and initiate corrective measures.
• Evaluate patient outcomes regularly.
• Maintain complete, up-to-date documentation and files, including product and service quotes.
• Communicate regularly with colleagues and patients.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
• Follow Code Blue protocol.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
