About The Position
Daikin Applied is hiring a full-time Boiler Service Technician II for its Washington DC / Baltimore district. The technician services commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, mini-split systems, chillers, and boilers, and receives training through in-person, online, and on-the-job programs. The role includes maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment, inspecting and testing systems, supporting warranty service, guiding Level I technicians, and learning centrifugal rebuilds from Lead and Level III technicians. The technician also documents service and administrative information, communicates with customers, participates in ongoing training, maintains certifications, and follows safety and work-area standards. The position includes rotational emergency call support as required. The typical hourly pay rate ranges from $33.10 to $53.05. Individual base pay depends on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Employment is contingent on successful completion of applicable pre-employment requirements. Work visa sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of experience in HVAC or a related industry.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Required licenses and/or training cards as required by local law district.
- Availability for rotational emergency call support as required.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or technical school HVAC certification.
- EPA-approved Universal Technician Certification.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Current first aid / CPR card.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment, including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters and belts, and lubricating equipment.
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes.
- Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns or callbacks.
- Perform warranty service by inspecting and testing systems to verify the functionality of HVAC equipment and components.
- Direct Level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations of troubleshooting and repair steps.
- Learn about centrifugal rebuilds from Lead and Level III technicians.
- Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required information in a timely manner.
- Provide customers with service status reports before, during, and after each call.
- Explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Participate in training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning.
- Maintain required certifications and develop new skill sets.
- Uphold standards, policies, procedures, and a clean work area.
- Follow OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures.
- Provide rotational emergency call support as required.
