Temporary Boiler Technician
About The Position
The Building People, LLC is accepting applications for an anticipated temporary, full-time Boiler Maintenance position at USDA ERRC. The role is scheduled for first shift on Saturdays and Sundays between December 1 and March 31. The Boiler Technician maintains, tests, modifies, adjusts, repairs, and operates boilers and associated equipment. They maintain steam pressures, water temperatures, and levels, and service and maintain piping, electrical, and control systems. They also make necessary repairs and adjustments to boiler and chiller equipment to correct reported or identified deficiencies and maintain required operations, following equipment specifications and manufacturers’ instructions.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, test, modify, adjust, and repair boiler-related systems and components.
- Operate boilers and maintain steam pressures, water temperatures, and levels.
- Service and maintain piping, electrical, and control systems.
- Repair and adjust boiler and chiller equipment to correct deficiencies and maintain required operations, following equipment specifications and manufacturers’ instructions.
- Record system operating conditions daily.
- Repair and replace components.
- Clean nozzles and oil filters.
- Repack valves.
- Grease and oil motors and other equipment.
- Perform general housekeeping of equipment and spaces.
- Check and maintain motors.
- Check and clean traps.
- Adjust controls for safe and economical operation.
