About The Position

Sage Group HealthCare Staffing is seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in Battle Creek, MI. This role involves providing and coordinating care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions. The RN will provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures. The position requires ensuring physicians’ orders are transcribed appropriately, patients’ status is assessed and documented, and physicians are notified of significant changes. The RN will also ensure initial nursing treatment plans are completed upon admission and that all nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs. The role involves providing care in Adult units and willingness to float to other units if requested.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse: 2 years - Required
  • Recent/Current Inpatient Psychiatric or Behavioral health RN experience: 2 years – Required
  • Experience with Epic EMR and Pyxis Medication Systems – Required
  • ASN or an equivalent – Required
  • RN License for State of MI - Required
  • BLS Certification from AHA or American Red Cross - Required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or an equivalent – Highly preferred
  • CPI or HWC Certification - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records.
  • Educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure physicians’ orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
  • Ensure patients’ status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information is gathered and documented.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in status.
  • Ensure that initial nursing treatment plans are completed upon admission and that all nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs.
  • Provide care in Adult units and willing to float to other units if requested.
