About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, or a related field from an accredited program, plus 3,000 hours of post-master’s experience; or a terminal degree (PhD, MD, etc.) or PsyD from an APA-accredited program.
• At least two years of post-licensure experience, or licensed providers with two years of supervised experience working with children and families while obtaining 3,000 hours may be considered in lieu of the post-licensure requirement.
• Clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• One of the following Wisconsin licenses: Psychologist (57), Clinical Social Worker (123), Marriage and Family Therapist (124), or Professional Counselor (125).
• Understanding of pediatric developmental stages and the impact of trauma on development.
• Flexibility in responding to ambiguous and unpredictable patient presentations and needs.
• Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
• Ability to assess data reflecting a patient’s status and interpret information needed to provide appropriate care.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of experience in a pediatric mental health or medical setting, including integrated health or crisis response.
• Certification and/or experience in one or more evidence-based or evidence-informed therapeutic practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide care appropriate to the age and presenting concerns of patients.
• Conduct mental and behavioral health screenings, risk assessments, and evaluations to determine the need for further diagnostic assessment, behavioral health services, and safety planning.
• Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions and goal-directed therapy to patients and families, and consult with providers in the clinical setting.
• Provide consultative and educational support to the care team and multidisciplinary partners regarding interventions, diagnoses, and treatment.
• Participate in creating integrated, individualized plans of care and increase the care team’s knowledge of the Behavioral Health Consultant role, services, and community-based behavioral health resources.
• Arrange higher levels of care when indicated and refer patients for individual, group, or family therapy when longer-term care is required.
• Provide group therapy or caregiver support groups when requested by the team or leader.
• Track program data, maintain current electronic medical record documentation, meet department productivity benchmarks, and comply with billing and coding practices.
• Provide culturally responsive care and adapt practice to the changing needs of patients, families, the community, and the care setting.
• Develop or update educational materials that are culturally and developmentally appropriate, as needed.
• Coordinate with schools and community partners to support continuity of care.
• Lead projects or project components, or take accountability for ongoing activities or objectives, as applicable.
• Serve as a resource for less experienced learners and colleagues and, as needed, onboard and train new Behavioral Health Consultants and learners.
