About The Position

This role within Beverage R&D enables Keurig Dr Pepper to maximize the impact of the Keurig system synergy (beverage, pod, and appliance) to partners, customers, and consumers. The associate scientist will support hot Beverage Development initiatives, including pre-concept exploration, development and commercialization, for quality, cost, and performance. They will advance the business through technical excellence ensuring all aspects meet or exceed the quality and product performance requirements within a managed timeline and cost objective. With focus on Productivity and Continuous Improvement, they will help generate and explore Design-to-Value ideas in close collaboration with our Marketing and Procurement Teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Basic understanding of Good Lab and Manufacturing Practices, and Food Safety Regulatory Standards.
  • Solid understanding of statistical data analysis for data driven decision making.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in adapting to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Basic business orientation; ability to understand business case and consumer needs.
  • Relevant experience in Food and Beverage Industry.
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 25%).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience with Coffee and Coffee Beverages is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hot beverages across a variety of categories – coffee, flavored coffee, tea, cocoa, and lattes – from benchtop prototyping through full scale up and commercialization.
  • Support development of timelines, actions plans, reports, and presentations to manage and communicate progress on a given initiative.
  • Define product and processing specifications with ensured accuracy.
  • Maintain true and detailed record of laboratory work.
  • Develop basic experimental plans to validate technical and sensorial aspects of formulations, and for troubleshooting issues during development and commercialization phases.
  • Participate in group product tastings and provide sensory feedback.
  • Partner with various functions of R&D – Sensory, Ingredients, Nutrition, Regulatory, Flavor Technology, Chemistry, Process Engineering, and Technical Services – to develop great tasting beverages that consumers love.
