About The Position
South Sound Behavioral Hospital is hiring an experienced Music, Art, Recreation, or Occupational Therapist for a day-shift Activity Therapist role. The therapist plans and implements activity services for an assigned program, defines and implements treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and provides continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling. The role is based at South Sound Behavioral Hospital, a 138-bed behavioral health facility in Lacey, Washington, serving patients receiving mental health and substance use disorder treatment. The hospital describes its environment as secure and supportive, with a person-centered approach to care. The position may require overtime and flexible hours.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in occupational, art, music, or recreational therapy, humanities, social work, or a related therapeutic discipline.
- Certification or licensure by the state of Washington and/or a national governing body in art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.
- Successful completion of CPR certification.
- Successful completion of CPI within 30 days of employment and before assisting with a restraining procedure.
- May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree preferred.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.
