About The Position

The Woodworking Retail Sales Associate provides attentive customer service by explaining, demonstrating, and selling woodworking supplies and tools. When not assisting customers, the associate maintains the sales floor through facing, dusting, and general housekeeping. The role also supports store merchandising, documentation of refunds, and other retail operations as assigned. Reliable attendance during scheduled shifts is an essential function of the position.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Knowledge of woodworking and hand tools.
• Ability to understand customer requests and determine how best to respond to customer needs.
• Ability to understand when a merchandise return or refund can be authorized.
• Strong service orientation focused on maximizing customer satisfaction.
• Ability to be a team player and to be outgoing, approachable, and congenial with customers and associates.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to personally lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and participate in team lifting.
• Takes initiative.

• Previous retail sales experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly as they enter the store and acknowledge customers encountered in the store.
• Handle retail sales of company products by answering questions about product application or use and processing purchases through the POS.
• Recommend related products and services customers may need for their projects as part of a total solution.
• Assist with store maintenance and merchandising to keep the store neat, orderly, well stocked, and displays appealing.
• Handle customer refunds and prepare required documentation according to prescribed procedures.
• Refer customers to other sources when the store does not carry a requested item, with the intent of building goodwill for Rockler Companies, Inc.
• May assist with unloading trucks, pricing, merchandising, and other assigned duties.
• Maintain reliable attendance and be present during scheduled shifts.
