About The Position

This part-time retail customer service position is based at the company’s Jacksonville, Florida location. The associate gives customers immediate and complete attention by explaining, demonstrating, and selling woodworking supplies and tools. When not assisting customers, the associate maintains the sales floor through facing, dusting, and general housekeeping. The role includes greeting customers, handling retail sales and point-of-sale transactions, helping customers identify related products and services for their projects, maintaining store displays and merchandise, processing refunds and required documentation, and referring customers elsewhere when the store does not carry a requested item. The associate may also help unload trucks, price and merchandise products, and perform other assigned duties. Attendance during scheduled shifts is an essential function of the position.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of woodworking and hand tools.
Ability to understand customers’ requests and determine appropriate responses to their needs.
Ability to understand situations in which a merchandise return or refund may be authorized.
Strong service orientation focused on maximizing customer satisfaction.
Ability to be a team player and to be outgoing, approachable, and congenial with customers and associates.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to personally lift up to 50 pounds regularly and participate in team lifting.
Initiative and strong teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail sales experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Greet customers as they enter the store and acknowledge customers encountered in the store.
Explain, demonstrate, and sell woodworking supplies and tools; answer questions about product applications and use.
Complete sales transactions using the point-of-sale system.
Show customers related products and services that may meet the needs of their projects.
Maintain and merchandise the store, keeping it neat, orderly, well stocked, and appealing.
Maintain the sales floor through facing, dusting, and general housekeeping when not assisting customers.
Handle customer refunds and prepare required documentation according to procedures.
Refer customers to other sources when the store does not carry a requested item, with the aim of building goodwill for the company.
May assist with unloading trucks, pricing, merchandising, and other assigned duties.
Attend work during scheduled shifts.
