About The Position

This is a part-time retail customer service role focused on giving customers immediate, complete attention by explaining, demonstrating, and selling woodworking supplies and tools. When not assisting customers, the associate maintains the sales floor through facing, dusting, and general housekeeping. The role performs management duties as directed by the Store Manager and includes all Sales Associate duties in addition to the responsibilities listed in the posting. Attendance during scheduled shifts is an essential function of the position.

Requirements

High school graduate.
Knowledge of woodworking and hand tools.
Ability to understand customers’ requests and determine how best to respond to their needs.
Ability to recognize situations that require a management decision.
Extremely strong service orientation to maximize customer satisfaction.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to personally lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to participate in team lifting of up to 400 pounds with help.
Initiative.
Ability to work well as a team player.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail sales experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Open and close the store as directed by the Store Manager.
Perform other management tasks as assigned, which may include receiving, pricing, and merchandising.
Handle customer refunds and overrides, and prepare documentation in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Maintain daily sales records and balance the cash register.
Greet and acknowledge customers promptly as they enter or come into contact with the associate.
Handle retail sales of company products by answering questions about product applications or use and processing sales through the POS.
Show customers related products and services that may support their project as part of a total-solution approach.
Assist with store maintenance and merchandising to keep displays neat, orderly, well stocked, and appealing.
Refer customers to other sources when the store does not carry a specific item, with the intent of building goodwill for Rockler Companies, Inc.
Assist with unloading trucks, pricing, merchandising, and other duties as assigned.
Maintain attendance and be at work during scheduled shifts.
