About The Position

This part-time retail customer service role provides customers with immediate, attentive assistance by explaining, demonstrating, and selling woodworking supplies and tools. When not assisting customers, the associate maintains the sales floor through facing, dusting, and general housekeeping.

The role also includes store merchandising and upkeep, processing sales and refunds, and helping customers find related products or other sources for items the store does not carry. Attendance during scheduled shifts is an essential function of the position.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Knowledge of woodworking and hand tools.
• Ability to understand customers’ requests and determine how best to respond to their needs.
• Ability to understand situations in which a merchandise return or refund can be authorized.
• Extremely strong service orientation to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Ability to be a team player and to be outgoing, approachable, and congenial when dealing with customers and associates.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to personally lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and participate in team lifting.
• Takes initiative.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail sales experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter the store and acknowledge customers encountered in the store within an acceptable period of time.
• Answer customer questions about product applications and use, demonstrate and sell company products, and process sales through the POS system.
• Show customers related products or services that may support their projects as part of a total-solution approach.
• Maintain and merchandise the store, keeping it neat, orderly, well stocked, and appealing; perform facing, dusting, and general housekeeping.
• Handle customer refunds and prepare required documentation according to prescribed procedures.
• Refer customers to other sources when the store does not carry the specific item they need, with the intent of building goodwill for Rockler Companies, Inc.
• Assist with unloading trucks, pricing, and merchandising, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Attend work during scheduled shifts.
