About The Position

The Wellness Director is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the wellness program and for meeting residents’ social and wellness needs through planned wellness activities, exercise programming, leisure activities, and ongoing interaction with community groups. The role also manages assigned staff and supports the department’s financial viability and resident care planning.

Requirements

Meet the applicable federal qualifications under §483.15(f)(2): be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional who is licensed or registered by the state where applicable and eligible for certification by a recognized accrediting body; have two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, including one full-time year in a patient activities program in a health care setting; be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or have completed a state-approved training course.
Hold a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle assigned to operate.
Have an acceptable driving record that meets Benedictine requirements.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or Exercise Physiology.
Experience in long-term care.
Management experience.
Experience coordinating volunteer programs.
BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

Manage the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff.
Ensure the financial viability of the department, including developing, managing, and maintaining accountability for budgets.
Ensure departmental completion and implementation of the care plan and assessment process for all residents.
Coordinate planned wellness activities, exercise programming, leisure activities, and interaction with community groups to meet residents’ social and wellness needs.
