About The Position

The Jorgensen Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Wellness Assistant to create a welcoming atmosphere and leave a memorable impression on new and current members. The role supports members’ fitness and wellness goals by providing service, helping maintain clean and safe facilities, and orienting members to fitness equipment. The assistant may need to respond to emergency situations. The position is located at the Jorgensen Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with hours available Monday and Friday from 4:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Requirements

• Be at least 15 years old.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Be able to welcome, relate to, and communicate with diverse groups regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
• Be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.

Nice To Haves

• Previous fitness certification and experience with basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology and wellness equipment are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Connect with participants and program staff using strong human relations and communication skills.
• Provide service by connecting with members and helping ensure facilities are clean and safe.
• Respond to emergency situations if needed.
• Orient members to fitness equipment to support a safe, positive environment and their wellness goals.
