About The Position

BBC Studios’ Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) business brings premium content directly to North American audiences through two distinctive streaming brands: BritBox and BBC Select. BritBox is the ultimate streaming destination for British TV, offering an unparalleled collection of thoughtfully curated entertainment. Launched in 2017, it is available on every major platform. BBC Select is a documentary streaming service that has been successfully operating since February 2021 and is the third-largest documentary streaming service in the US. The integration of BBC Select into the DTC organization presents a strong opportunity to leverage shared capabilities, insights, and expertise to accelerate growth and enhance overall customer experience. This role is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic Direct-to-Consumer business within BBC Studios, bringing the very best of British TV to fans everywhere. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned subscription growth leader with a track record of driving growth through omnichannel strategy and building high-performing teams. This is a dedicated Growth leadership role, not a title marketing or brand marketing role, though this leader will be an influential partner in shaping both. They will create the connective tissue across Growth disciplines, from media and SEO to device partners, translating the broader DTC roadmap into clear priorities, focused investment and coordinated action while partnering closely with Title, Brand and Social Marketing. The right person for this role is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile and data-driven environment where priorities evolve and resources require active prioritization. They are an experienced people leader who can develop senior talent, create clarity and accountability, empower functional experts, and build an inclusive culture of collaboration and high performance – all while keeping teams focused on the work that will have the greatest impact.

Requirements

Bachelors degree (Master's a plus) or equivalent experience
Extensive level of experience in growth marketing, paid media, and marketing strategy development, ideally with experience in subscription-based products.
A proven track record of building multi-channel marketing campaigns that deliver & exceed business goals.
Experience leading teams with individuals of varied functions, and foster a culture of agility and flexibility amongst the team.
Strategic and commercially minded, with the ability to translate company growth ambitions and customer insights into clear marketing priorities and investment choices.
Self-starter who can power through challenges and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent analytical, strategy, project management and presentation skills.
Experienced and effective people leader with a track record of leading, coaching and developing senior talent and building high-performing, collaborative teams.
Excellent stakeholder management, strong relationships internally with frequent collaboration, clear communication and consistency in developing impactful strategies
Experienced in leading significant agency and external partner relationships

Responsibilities

Lead a media and marketing center of excellence across ATL and BTL channels, ensuring media strategy and execution connect to broader audience, campaign, brand and business priorities across the DTC portfolio.
Translate company and brand objectives for BritBox and BBC Select into clear growth priorities, assessing business impact and effort.
Build and lead an integrated Growth organization, internally creating the strategic and operational connective tissue across marketing strategy, paid media, device partners, agency partners.
Establish clear priorities, decision-making frameworks, planning rhythms and ways of working that enable functional leaders and their teams to operate effectively together.
Lead, coach and develop a team of marketing leaders and functional experts, setting clear accountability while empowering leaders to own their disciplines, develop their teams and contribute to the broader growth agenda.
Own the senior relationship with media agency/partners, establishing clear expectations, operating rhythms and performance accountability. Ensure agency capabilities are effectively integrated with the internal team, proactively addressing performance or relationship issues and ensuring partners deliver against agreed business outcomes.
Build a culture of curiosity, rapid experimentation, data-informed decision-making, creativity and continuous improvement.
Lead exploration of emerging subscription marketing channels, partnerships and other opportunities to increase sign-ups, identifying new and efficient approaches to acquisition and customer growth.
Partner with Program Marketing, Brand & Creative teams to ensure the full funnel is co-ordinated and optimized for best Growth outcomes
Collaborate with Lifecycle & Engagement leadership to identify opportunities and hypotheses to increase engagement and customer lifetime value, ensuring acquisition and retention strategies reinforce one another.
Embed CRO and customer journey principles throughout the Growth team, showing demonstrable improvements through key journeys on & off platform, and across paid/in-kind marketing
Champion a rigorous experimentation and learning agenda across Growth, connecting media, audience, creative and customer journey hypotheses to structured testing and measurable business outcomes. Partner with dedicated experimentation/CRO capabilities to expand testing across the customer journey.
Shape the evolution of marketing and advertising technology capabilities, including audience activation, CDP, data and measurement infrastructure.
