Summer Camp Sports Program - Volleyball
About The Position
The Utica City School District is seeking qualified candidates for its Summer Sports Camps, specifically for the Volleyball program. This program is a strategic investment in student wellness, safety, equity, and achievement, aiming to keep youth active and safe during the summer while supporting the district's mission to educate the whole child. It addresses challenges in urban communities, such as limited access to safe recreational outlets and a lack of structured programs, by offering a diverse range of team and individual sports. The program promotes health and fitness, provides a safe and structured summer alternative, builds critical life skills and character, encourages academic and career exploration through sports-related components, increases equity and opportunity by offering less accessible sports, and strengthens community and family ties through events and partnerships.
Requirements
- NYS Coaching Certification
- Interscholastic coaching experience in Volleyball
- CPR/FA for coaches or responding to emergencies/AED certification
- Concussion Management Certification
- Fingerprint Clearance
Responsibilities
- Coach Volleyball during the Summer Sports Camps.
- Ensure student wellness, safety, and engagement.
- Support the district's mission to educate the whole child.
- Provide a safe and structured environment for students.
- Instill life skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and resilience.
- Integrate academic components tied to sports, if applicable.
- Promote equity and opportunity in sports.
- Foster community and family ties through program events.
