About The Position

The Utica City School District is seeking qualified candidates for its Summer Sports Camps, specifically for the Tennis program. This Youth Sports Summer Program is designed to keep students active and safe during the summer months, aligning with the district's mission to educate the whole child. The program aims to provide a structured and engaging environment for students entering grades 4-12, offering a variety of sports to promote health, fitness, life skills, and equity.

Requirements

  • NYS Coaching Certification
  • Interscholastic coaching experience in tennis
  • CPR/FA for coaches or responding to emergencies/AED certification
  • Concussion Management Certification
  • Fingerprint Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Coach tennis to students entering grades 4-12.
  • Ensure student wellness, safety, and engagement during the summer program.
  • Support the district's mission to educate the whole child, mind, body, and spirit.
  • Keep youth active and safe during the summer.
  • Foster development outside the classroom through sports participation.
  • Instill life skills such as teamwork, discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and resilience.
  • Potentially integrate academic components related to sports science, kinesiology, data analysis, or sports journalism.
  • Encourage equity and opportunity by providing access to sports like tennis.
  • Strengthen community and family ties through program participation and potential events.
