About The Position
The Utica City School District is seeking qualified candidates for its Youth Sports Summer Program. This program, featuring a diverse range of sports including Lacrosse, is designed to keep youth active and safe during the summer months, aligning with the district's mission to educate the whole child. It addresses challenges in urban communities by providing safe recreational outlets, structured programs, and opportunities for development outside the classroom. The program promotes health and fitness, builds critical life skills such as teamwork and discipline, encourages academic and career exploration through sports-related components, increases equity by offering less accessible sports like lacrosse, and strengthens community ties through events and partnerships.
Requirements
- NYS Coaching Certification
- Interscholastic coaching experience in Lacrosse
- CPR/FA for coaches or responding to emergencies/AED certification
- Concussion Management Certification
- Fingerprint Clearance
Responsibilities
- Coach students in Lacrosse during the summer program.
- Ensure student safety and engagement during program hours.
- Foster the development of life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance through sports.
- Integrate academic components related to sports where applicable.
- Promote equity and opportunity by introducing students to sports like lacrosse.
- Engage with families and the community through program events.
Benefits
- Rate of pay: $40/hour
- Not to exceed 20 hours per week
