About The Position

The Utica City School District is seeking qualified candidates for its Youth Sports Summer Program, which includes Softball. This program is designed to keep youth active and safe during the summer months, supporting the district's mission to educate the whole child. It addresses challenges faced by urban communities, such as limited access to safe recreational outlets and a lack of structured programs. The program promotes health and fitness through various sports, builds critical life skills and character, encourages academic and career exploration, increases equity and opportunity, and strengthens community and family ties.

Requirements

  • NYS Coaching Certification
  • Interscholastic coaching experience in softball
  • CPR/FA for coaches or responding to emergencies/AED certification
  • Concussion Management Certification
  • Fingerprint Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Coach softball participants in the summer sports program.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during program activities.
  • Engage students in structured, supervised activities.
  • Instill life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
  • Potentially integrate academic components tied to sports.
  • Foster community and family engagement through program events.

Benefits

  • Pay rate of $40/hour
  • Not to exceed 20 hours per week
