UX Researcher

Angel•Provo, UT
•$72,000 - $78,500

About The Position

Angel Studios is hiring a junior UX Researcher to support its TV experience. Embedded with the TV product team, the researcher will conduct regular usability research across a variety of TV platforms as an additional layer of product quality control, identifying confusion and friction in core experiences before and after launch. This is a junior individual contributor role with meaningful ownership. The UX Research Manager will provide training, coaching, and methodological support, particularly during onboarding. With experience, the researcher will take responsibility for studies from planning through sharing findings. The role partners directly with the TV Product Manager to keep research responsive to the team’s questions and advocate for users in product decisions. The position is regular full-time, 40 hours per week. Most research will include in-person interviews at the Angel office. When working in the main office, the environment is comfortable and air-conditioned, with individual desks in an open, shared space that can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy. Out-of-state travel is not anticipated.

Requirements

  • A foundation in usability testing, moderation, and qualitative analysis.
  • Strong observation and listening skills, with the judgment to ask useful follow-up questions and distinguish evidence from inference.
  • Clear, concise communication that turns research into practical recommendations for product partners.
  • Initiative and organization to manage a study and its logistics with growing independence while seeking guidance when needed.
  • Ability to build a productive partnership with a cross-functional team and remain open to critique and new evidence.
  • Willingness to learn research and AI-assisted tools while taking responsibility for the accuracy of findings.
  • Curiosity about people and a passion for learning.
  • Evidence of education or experience in a relevant field, such as UX research, UX design, psychology, anthropology, human-computer interaction, or a similar field; industry experience with evidence of high performance; or training in a UX bootcamp or similar certificate.
  • Experience conducting research with participants, particularly moderated usability testing, and communicating findings from that work.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Approximately one to two years of applied UX research experience is preferred; strong candidates with substantial internship or comparable project experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with TV or streaming products.
  • Experience with AI-assisted research tools.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the TV Product Manager and product team to identify, prioritize, and answer research questions, and proactively suggest research when important gaps in understanding arise.
  • Build a regular, generally weekly cadence of usability testing across supported TV platforms, rotating attention among key interaction points such as onboarding and sign-up, watching content, discovery, account management, and other features as team needs change.
  • Scope studies, prepare plans and interview guides, coordinate participants and sessions, conduct research, analyze evidence, and communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Moderate sessions with real users, observe confusion, hesitation, workarounds, and other behavior, and ask thoughtful, non-leading follow-up questions.
  • Synthesize participant feedback and behavior into clear, well-supported findings and recommendations that the TV team can use to make product decisions.
  • Maintain accessible research documentation.
  • Use additional research methods, such as prototype or unmoderated testing, when appropriate.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for appropriate tasks, such as transcription or initial synthesis, and review their output against the underlying research before drawing conclusions.
  • Participate in UXR team training and research discussions, and contribute to other research projects as organizational needs evolve.
