About The Position

The Utility Worker / Janitor helps keep the community and surrounding areas clean, orderly, and well maintained. Duties include cleaning and polishing fixtures and surfaces; cleaning common areas and work spaces; caring for rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies; washing walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills; removing waste and replenishing bathroom supplies; and maintaining outside grounds and parking areas. The role also supports housekeeping staff with heavy cleaning and moving items, collects soiled linen and trash, transports bins and waste, delivers messages, and moves small equipment or tools between departments. The position may include shampooing carpets and scrubbing floors with a rotary machine or extractor.

Experience with a floor machine is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
Empty wastebaskets and empty and clean ashtrays.
Transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
Replenish bathroom supplies.
Maintain outside grounds and parking areas, including picking up litter and keeping walkways and driveways free of debris.
Deliver messages and transport small equipment or tools between departments.
Assist housekeeping staff with heavy cleaning or moving items.
Pick up soiled linen and trash from housekeepers’ carts.
Tow rolling trash bins to be emptied and compacted.
Shampoo carpets and scrub floors using a rotary machine or extractor.
