About The Position

The Utility Clerk or Sacker supports the daily operations of the Front-End Team. This detail-oriented role requires strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask effectively. The employee bags groceries according to customer preferences, helps customers locate items or returns items to their proper locations, offers assistance carrying groceries to customers’ vehicles, retrieves and maintains carts, and helps keep the shopping environment clear and clean. The position is non-exempt and formally reports to the Front-End Manager. The employee must obtain a liquor license and/or food handler’s permit if required by the county, within the first 14 days of starting. The role also requires following company rules for alcohol and tobacco sales and handling, completing ongoing training and development, and supporting other tasks, departments, or stores as directed by management.

Responsibilities

Obtain a liquor license and/or food handler’s permit if required by the county within the first 14 days of starting.
Bag groceries efficiently and accurately.
Provide customer service by greeting customers, asking about their bagging preferences, and offering assistance to their vehicles; know and practice Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards or Red-Carpet Service.
Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, breakroom, check stands, and restrooms.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operational for customers.
Communicate effectively with team members and management.
Resolve customer inquiries or concerns, and seek help from store management when needed.
Follow Cosentino’s rules regarding alcohol and tobacco sales and handling.
Multitask and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Help prevent merchandise loss by checking the bottoms of shopping carts for cashiers.
Complete additional tasks identified by management, assist other stores or departments as needed, and gain new skills when necessary.
Complete ongoing training and development listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
