About The Position

The Assistant Health & Beauty/General Merchandise Manager assists customers with their shopping experience by leading the HBC/GM team to promote company growth and deliver the products and service Cosentino’s customers expect. The position works with the HBC/GM Manager to supervise team activities, support department operations, and maintain customer service, merchandising, inventory, quality, cleanliness, and safety standards. This is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

Complete ongoing training and development listed on the Cosentino Learning Plan.
Demonstrate verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer and peer interactions.
Demonstrate basic math and reading skills required for the position.
Be able to operate, clean, and maintain department equipment safely and competently.

Responsibilities

Work with the HBC/GM Manager to directly supervise team activities in an operationally effective, motivating, and respectful manner.
Promote a positive team atmosphere, including cooperation, teamwork, high morale, positive interactions, communication, and recognition.
Address employee relations issues and work with Human Resources when needed.
Count and verify merchandise against invoices; inspect deliveries for shortages, damage, and quality.
Follow rotation procedures to monitor product dates and enforce quality control.
Know and promote advertisements and specials to increase department sales and profits.
Answer customer questions courteously and accurately using knowledge of department products.
Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve store management when appropriate.
Know and implement Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
Keep the department clean, fully stocked, and creatively merchandised.
Follow and ensure team compliance with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely and competently.
Promote department sales through product suggestions and effective merchandising techniques.
Unload incoming shipments promptly and stock merchandise in designated areas without damage.
Assist the HBC/GM Manager with interviews and hiring.
Coach team members, provide corrective actions and performance evaluations, and help improve individual and team performance.
Communicate department goals to team members and implement plans to achieve them.
Communicate department issues with the HBC/GM Manager and store management team.
Complete additional management-assigned tasks, assist other stores or departments as needed, and gain new skills when necessary.
