About The Position

At First Mid, the Universal Banker/Teller I creates a personalized customer experience by developing relationships, asking questions, and offering solutions tailored to customers’ needs. The role provides accurate and efficient banking transactions, customer service, account support, and referrals while following bank policies and service standards. The position may also involve community and promotional activities, work at other First Mid Banking centers, and additional duties as assigned. The role includes developing customer and business-partner relationships, educating customers about banking products and alternate delivery systems, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and meeting established goals. Advancement is based on management discretion.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications.
Successfully complete required compliance and First Mid training curriculum to become proficient in the basic account-opening process.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of customer service and cash-handling experience and/or previous experience working in a financial institution preferred.
Previous sales experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Create a quality service experience by resolving customer needs promptly and supporting customer satisfaction.
Follow company service standards, including greeting customers and making them feel welcome.
Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently within policy guidelines, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, check cashing, and cashier’s checks.
Seek manager assistance for suspicious transactions and obtain approval for transactions outside authorized limits.
Follow bank compliance, security, and operational policies and procedures.
Maintain and balance a cash drawer and assist with daily branch operations.
Open checking, savings, safe deposit box, and basic business-related accounts.
Make requested changes to existing customer accounts.
Identify process improvements that could improve the customer experience and communicate ideas to branch management.
Allow safe deposit box holders entry, if applicable.
Maintain professional appearance and conduct and protect customer confidentiality.
Participate in bank promotions, external community events, and promotional activities as applicable.
Work in other First Mid Banking centers as required.
Complete other specified duties as assigned.
Develop and maintain relationships with business partners and customers.
Educate and encourage customers to use ATM, debit card, online, and mobile banking services.
Maintain knowledge of banking products through training, branch meetings, and corporate communications.
Identify cross-selling opportunities and refer customers to appropriate business lines.
Consistently meet or exceed established position goals.
