About The Position

The Alterations Specialist alters and repairs clothing according to customer specifications, primarily fitting pants. The role uses knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion, and the marketplace to complete alterations to UNIQLO standards. The specialist also communicates Re-Uniqlo initiatives to guests and may create renewed or upcycled clothing. The position may occasionally support customer returns using the POS system and helps maintain brand and operational standards.

Requirements

• At least six months of prior sewing or fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets business needs, including evenings and weekends.
• Working knowledge of sewing machines such as lock stitch, blind stitch, and serge machines.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic repair services in a timely manner.
• Sew pant hems using an industrial sewing machine.
• Trim excess threads using scissors.
• Measure, cut, and sew hems following seams, edges, or markings on pants.
• Alter pant hemlines to fit individual customers.
• Ensure repairs and alterations meet UNIQLO standards.
• Represent Re-Uniqlo and Re-Use initiatives, including repairs and donations, to guests.
• Potentially create upcycled clothing items.
• Occasionally use the POS system to support customer returns.
• Maintain visual, cleanliness, brand, and operational standards.
• Address customer needs and exceed expectations by following UNIQLO’s service standard and Fundamental Principles, including saying the six standard phrases.
