About The Position

The Alterations Specialist alters and repairs clothing, primarily pants, according to customers’ specifications. The role uses knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion, and the marketplace to provide timely repairs and alterations that meet UNIQLO standards. The specialist also represents Re-Uniqlo and Re-Use initiatives, communicates with guests about repairs and donations, and may create upcycled clothing items. The position may occasionally support customer returns using a POS system and helps maintain brand and operational standards.

Requirements

• At least six months of prior sewing or fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets business needs, including evenings and weekends.
• Working knowledge of sewing machines such as lock stitch, blind stitch, and serge machines.

Responsibilities

• Execute basic repair services in a timely manner.
• Sew pants hems using an industrial sewing machine.
• Trim excess threads with scissors.
• Measure, cut, and sew hems according to seams, edges, or markings on pants.
• Alter pants’ hemlines to fit individual customers.
• Ensure repairs and alterations meet UNIQLO standards.
• Represent Re-Uniqlo and Re-Use initiatives, including repairs and donations.
• Potentially create upcycled clothing items.
• Occasionally use the POS system to support customer returns.
• Maintain brand and operational standards, including visual standards and cleanliness.
• Meet customer needs and exceed expectations by following UNIQLO service standards, Fundamental Principles, and the six standard phrases.
